For me, I use what offers me the best according to the projects at hand. I run an ancient Windows OS; and Red Hat. Both worlds do what is necessary. Choices aren't always mine...clients decide.

Last year we got a virulent virus that was wandering around on one of the Unix boxes. It took almost 2 weeks to clear out; simply because we had an Administrator that put out a "To All:" message that said in essence...go ahead and open this attachment...it's cool. I talked to man...his machine was the last I cleaned to orchestrate a point. And we consider animals "stupid"..

Point is, the virus writers will write to the largers audience possible. In our current world, that would Windows. Statistically speaking, there are more Windows OS systems out there than any other OS around.

If one were to compare computers to humans...as humans, we innoculate for measles and chicken pox and polio as children. Nobody innoculates for HIV simply because there's no medicine to do that yet.

With HIV, don't share sex freely or needles...anything that could harbor bodily fluids. So then are virus's, trojans and worms. Don't share anything that could distribute those same entities.

Clicking a link of an attachment either in email or at a website is a lot like sharing a bodily fluid. Most of them can be thwarted with minimal sickness. If one doesn't do the considerations and share anyway...then you've a problem...and sometimes its death...to the human or machine.
